An IT entrepreneur from Jaipur Ajay Data has been appointed on the board of the Council for Country Code Name Support Organisation (ccNSO). He is be the first Indian to be appointed on board of the international body of top level domain managers to discuss issues of topical concern and develop policies for safe management of internet. He will formally take up the position at the 63 annual general meeting of Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) scheduled in Barcelona, Spain, next month.
Appointed as custodian of Asia-Australia and Pacific Island at the council, Ajay Data has his focus on making internet ‘inclusive’ for another billion people by breaking language barrier.
“Participation in ccNSO Council will allow me to contribute to the policies pertaining to country code names. With this responsibility, I will be in better position to work towards breaking the language barrier for getting the next billion people online,” says Data.
ccNSO is constituted under structure of ICANN that manages procedures of name and numerical spaces on Internet. Ajay Data’s appointment on its council has come following his association with the linguistic email services. He is founder CEO of Data XGen Technologies that has first of its kind Internationalised Domain Name Service supporting in 19 languages.
Nominated among a long list of applicants, Data expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its support to his candidature.
