A fixed-scope migration, with a parallel run before cut-over
Zimbra's free edition has been discontinued and Microsoft has moved Exchange to subscription-only licensing. If either is your server today, this is the moment to own the next one.
1. Assess
Mailbox count, storage, folders, shared calendars, distribution lists and the integrations that touch mail. You get a written scope and a fixed price.
2. Parallel run
XgenPlus runs alongside the old server while mail is copied and verified. Users try the new webmail and their mail clients before anything is switched.
3. Cut over
MX moves on a date you pick, usually a weekend. The old server stays readable until you sign off. Admins are trained; the AMC starts.

What an on-premise email server is, and who it is for

Can XgenPlus run fully on-premise or air-gapped?
Yes. XgenPlus installs inside your own data centre or private cloud and can run completely air-gapped with no outbound dependency on any vendor cloud. This is the core difference from Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Zoho Mail, which are multi-tenant cloud services you cannot host yourself. How is on-premise email different from cloud email?
With cloud email, a third party holds your data and controls the deployment. With on-premise email, you own the servers, the data location and the upgrade schedule. Does on-premise email help meet RBI and CERT-In requirements?
It helps directly. RBI mandates that payment data is stored in India, and CERT-In sets security and logging directions. Running email on infrastructure you control in India makes both straightforward to evidence. Note that India's DPDP Act is about consent, accountability and breach duties rather than a blanket data-localization mandate, so we describe it as favouring an Indian-controlled deployment, not as forcing one. Is on-premise email more expensive than cloud?
It carries more upfront setup and needs your own hardware and IT team, so per-mailbox economics favour on-premise at larger scale and longer horizons, while small teams are usually better on cloud. The licence is a one-time, per-user perpetual purchase with an annual maintenance contract for upgrades and support, so there is no monthly rent to compound over the years.
